About The Niger
Niger, officially the Republic of Niger, is alandlocked country in Western Africa, named after the Niger River. It borders Nigeria and Benin to the south, Burkina Faso and Malito the west, Algeria and Libya to the north and Chad to the east. Niger covers a land area of almost 1,270,000 km2; making it the largest nation in West Africa, with over 80 percent of its land area covered by the Sahara desert. The country’s predominantly Islamic population of 17,129,076 is mostly clustered in the far south and west of the nation. The capital city is Niamey, located in the far-southwest corner of Niger.
Nigerien society reflects a diversity drawn from the long independent histories of its several ethnic groups and regions and their relatively short period living in a single state. Historically, what is now Niger has been on the fringes of several large states? Since independence, Nigeriens have lived under five constitutions and three periods of military rule.

the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) advise against all travel to the following parts of Niger: all areas of the country north of the city of Abalak, including the Aïr Massif region; the province of Agadez (including the road linking Assamakato Agadez and the city of Agadez); areas of Tahoua province north of the city of Tahoua, including the city itself; the area of Tillabéri province north of Niamey, including the road from Niamey to Gao and the road from Niamey to Menaka; areas within 40km of the border with Nigeria in Diffa, Zinder and Maradi provinces.

1) Visitors, Tourists and Transit Visas
A. Letter of invitation accepting immigration responsibility or evidence of financial support while in Nigeria from individual Nigerians or Nigerian organizations.
B. Applicants for transit visas must submit copies of their onward tickets and visas to their destinations.
C. Children must submit copies of their birth certificates showing names of their parents.
D. Children of Nigerian parents must submit copies of the information page of both parents’ passport, and letter of consent from both parents.
E. Tourist must submit copies of their certified hotel reservation statements.
F. Resident aliens inviting friends must submit copies of their resident permits and the information page of their passports.
G. Aliens married to Nigerians or invited by Nigerians must submit copies of their hosts’ or spouses’ passports and letters accepting responsibility.
2) Business / Education / Religious Visas
A. If going for business, letters of invitation from companies or business organizations stating the reason must be submitted
B. If going for religious purpose, approval from the ministry of internal affairs, Abuja, Nigeria must be submitted.
C. If going for educational visit, a letter of invitation from the host university of school stating its purpose must be submitted
D. If a student, you must submit a copy of your identification card, with an accompanying letter from your institution.
3) Temporary Work Permit (TWP)
A. Approval from Nigeria for temporary work permit.
4) Subject to Regularization (STR)
A. Valid passport (at least 6 months to expiration)
B. Completed application forms in quadruplicate
C. Four recent passport photographs showing full face with white background.
D. Four certified copies of expatriate quota approval from Nigeria or approval from Nigeria for STR
E. Four certified copies of all credentials, résumé’s and certificates, were applicable.
F. Four copies of Letters of employment
G. Four copies of Letters of acceptance
H. All of the above should be submitted in four sets, not separately.
